KOLKATA - At least two people are reported to be dead and over 17 seriously injured in the major fire that broke out in the multi- storied Stephen Court building in Kolkata’s Park Street on Tuesday afternoon.

The duo reportedly jumped off the building in order to get out of the fire.

Sources said technical fault might be the cause of the fire.

Around 16 fire tenders have reached the spot and they are all attempting to extinguish the flames and bring the situation under control.

The Disaster Management Team has also reached the spot and is monitoring the situation.

Over to 20 to 25 people are feared trapped inside the building.

“Efforts are on to rescue the trapped persons and hydraulic ladders have been brought for the purpose,” said a police official.

The offices of Go air and Jet airways are inside this building in plot number 18/A of Park Street.

There are current reports that the lift of the building has collapsed. (ANI)
