Va. Tech police say threats do not pose danger
BLACKSBURG, Va. — Virginia Tech police are saying that a person sending threatening e-mails and Internet posts is not a danger to the university’s campus.
Maj. Gene Deisinger said in a statement Friday that investigators have taken the threats seriously and have thoroughly investigated them. The threats made over the past two weeks have been linked to Italy. Virginia State Police and the FBI are assisting in the investigation.
There have been no new threats posted since Wednesday.
Nearly three years ago, Virginia Tech was the scene of the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history. Student Seung-Hui Cho (sung wee joh) killed 32 people on campus, then committed suicide in April 2007.
