Zardari donates 100 million rupees among poor girls for marriage

ISLAMABAD - A day after he announced to donate all his body parts and organs after death, Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari, in yet another noble gesture, has distributed about 100 million rupees among poor girls for their marriage.
During a ceremony at the Presidency, Zardari distributed cheques worth 40,000 rupees each to 2,500 girls belonging weaker section of the society.
Speaking during the occasion, Zardari said the government is committed to help the poor and marginalised segments of the society, and urged people to help the government in this noble exercise.
“It is the duty of everyone to assist those in need,” The Daily Times quoted Zardari, as saying.
Zardari also asked the civil society and non-governmental organisations to come forward and play their role in supplementing the government’s efforts.
He also directed the public sector organisations to observe complete transparency in all financial transactions and disbursements. (ANI)
