LONDON - Wives of booze-loving husbands can now take heart: A new drink that gives the same high as alcohol but without the harmful effects is being developed.

The drink is the brainchild of David Nutt, a former chairman of the UK government’s Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs.

Nutt had been sacked from his post for saying ecstasy was no worse than alcohol.

However, it did not stop the neuropsychopharmacologist, nicknamed ‘the Nutty Professor,’ from creating ‘Nutt slammer’ that has no hangover and does no damage to the liver.

“Modern science can now provide a safer way for us to have fun,” Times Online quoted Nutt as saying.

The liquor has been developed from drugs known as benzodiazepines or “benzos”, which include Valium and temazepam.

The drink will be available in the form of a tasteless liquid shot that can be mixed with a fruity drink.

People drinking it will enjoy a pleasant state of mild inebriation.

Nutt insists benzos have no harmful effects but some doctors disagree.

He expects the drink to be on the market by the end of 2012. (ANI)
