After months, CF makes deal official with Terra
NEW YORK — After months of battles and hostile bids, CF Industries is getting its prize.
CF Industries Holdings Inc. said Friday it has agreed to buy Terra Industries Inc. for about $4.7 billion.
The deal has been approved by both companies’ boards.
Terra said it has officially ended its previously announced deal with Norway’s Yara International. That offer was valued at $4.1 billion.
Terra, based in Sioux City, Iowa, had repeatedly rejected CF’s previous offers. CF had vowed to end its hostile bids, but went back on the offensive after Terra agreed to Yara’s deal.
