BHUBANESWAR - Specially-abled women walked the ramp at a fashion show organised here on Wednesday.

Dressed in colourful ghagra-choli, specially-abled women walked the ramp and were visibly excited with the spotlight.

Talking about the aim of such a fashion show, Reena Mohanty, the chairperson of the organising committee, said specially-abled women were no different from other women, and the world needed to know that.

“This purpose is that in the solidarity and for the upliftment of women with disability because they are not being highlighted. Like, there are number of talented women with disability but their talents are just hidden. So we want the society and the world to know that such women are also no different from any other people,” said Mohanty.

Innu Tripathy, a specially-abled designer, who created the outfits for the show, said that her motto was to boost the self-confidence of such women.

“My motto was to merge the fashion in such a way that I can give them soft skill design… that now they can confidently show their faces to the rest of the world,” said Tripathy.

Anne Hawker, president of Rehabilitation International, who had come to watch the show said she was very moved.

“I loved the fashion show. It moved me. I saw the pride on the faces of those young women. The message I would like to give is ‘Have some dreams, put those dreams into practice because you ave enormous potential and talents,,” said Hawker. (ANI)
