House leader: Ethics panel ends Massa probe

WASHINGTON — The House Democratic campaign chairman says the ethics committee has ended an investigation of former Rep. Eric Massa, the New York Democrat who resigned this week over allegations that he harassed male staffers.

Speaking on an ABC News Webcast, Rep. Chris Van Hollen said that when Massa resigned his seat, “the complaints filed with the ethics committee went away.”

But this may not be the end of the matter. Van Hollen says Massa staff members who filed the complaint could still pursue an investigation outside the ethics committee.
