GOGHALDIHA - Armed Maoists beheaded two residents of Goghaldiha village under Kharagpur Police Station in Bihar’s Munger District.

As reported, the rebels dragged Kailash Pundit and Ramsunder Mandal out of their houses before taking them to a secluded place and slitting their throats.

The family of the victims did not know why the Maoists had targeted them.

Soma Devi, wife of one of the victims, said, “We don’t know why they killed him.

First they handed us a letter. Then they beat him. They also hit me and my son as well with a baton.”

Police have launched an extensive search operation for the Maoist suspects.

A police official said, “The victims were then taken to a secluded place where their throats were slit.”

Top Maoist leader Mallojula Koteshwar Rao alias Kishenji had earlier offered a 72-day long ceasefire to the Central Government starting from February 26.

Union Home Minister P Chidambaram has however, said the talks with the rebels could be possible only if they gave up violence. (ANI)
