US envoy condoles Begumpet naval aircraft crash

HYDERABAD - U.S. Ambassador to India Timothy J. Roemer has condoled the crash of an Indian aircraft during an air show in Begumpet near Hyderabad.

“What began as such a promising day has sadly ended so tragically. As the full extent of this tragedy is still becoming known, all of our thoughts and prayers are with those who lost their lives or were injured, and with their families. These heartbreaking losses have even more piercing impact when you are part of the event,” Roemer said in a statement issued by the US embassy.he aircraft crashed into the third floor of a residential building as it was executing ‘Sagar Pawan’ formation. Both pilots manning the aircraft were killed in the mishap.

Sources said a detailed probe has been ordered into the crash that will be held under the supervision of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-chief, Naval Aviation.

Sources said the Kiran fleet may be grounded following today’s crash.

Around seven people have been injured and have been taken to the Gandhi Hospital in Hyderabad.

The aircraft was a part of the Indian Navy’s ‘Sagar Pawan’ acrobatic display. (ANI)
