Haryana’s Bhima Devi temple ‘best maintained monument’

CHANDIGARH - The ancient Bhima Devi Temple in Haryana’s Pinjore town has been adjudged the ‘best maintained tourist friendly monument’ in the country by the union tourism ministry, an official said here Tuesday.

Haryana government has renovated the site of Bhima Devi temple into an exquisite museum and now it has become an added attraction for tourists coming to the Yadvindra Gardens here, a government spokesperson said.

“The excavated remains of this ancient temple have been showcased in an indoor museum adjoining a big landscaped lawn that serves as the outdoor museum at a cost of nearly Rs.2.5 crore. The entire premises has been very artistically decorated and illuminated, he added.

Bhima Devi Temple, located near the Yadvindra Gardens, is around 35 km from state capital Chandigarh.

Vice President Hamid Ansari will give the award to a senior Haryana government official in New Delhi Wednesday.
