Police tentatively ID young girl abandoned in Del.
NEWARK, Del. — Police in Delaware say they’ve tentatively identified a young girl found locked in a gas station bathroom.
Newark Police announced Wednesday that photos and videos of the girl released to the media led to the identification. But police say because there are multiple jurisdictions involved and the investigation is ongoing they aren’t releasing more information about the girl.
The child, believed to be about 2 years old, was discovered in Newark on Sunday by a stranger who heard her crying.
Division of Family Services spokesman Joseph Smack said the girl has been placed with a foster family.
Newark police released two video clips late Tuesday of the girl playing with toys after her rescue.
