Exxon Mobil, Qatar Petroleum start operations at natural gas project

Exxon Mobil’s Qatar natural gas project under way
IRVING, Texas — Exxon Mobil Corp. said Tuesday that operations have begun at a natural gas facility it is developing with Qatar Petroleum.
The second phase of the Al Khaleej Gas project in the Persian Gulf emirate of Qatar has a sales gas capacity of 1,250 million cubic feet per day. Operations began in December.
Combined with the first phase, the project will have total gas capacity of 1,250 million cubic feet per day.
In phase two, onshore gas treating and related facilities as well as two additional offshore wellhead platforms were constructed.
Onshore facilities are integrated with liquified natural gas facilities in Ras Laffan Industrial City.
Shares of Exxon Mobil fell 27 cents to $65.13 in afternoon trading.
