Police: Grenade attacks in Rwanda’s capital kill 1

KIGALI, Rwanda — Police say three grenade attacks in Rwanda’s capital have killed one person and injured 30.

Rwandan police spokesman Eric Kayiranga said Saturday that the injured were taken to three different hospitals in Kigali after the attacks Friday night. He said five of the injured remain in serious condition while the rest have been discharged.

On Friday night, two grenades exploded in the city center within 15 minutes of each other, and another went off at the international bus station nearly 30 minutes later, Kayiranga said.

Kayiranga said two suspects are being questioned by national police, but he could not give further details. He said that police are still investigating the “exceptional” incidents and that maintaining the security of the capital remains the top priority.
