LUCKNOW - Farmers in Uttar Pradesh are happy as they are hoping to reap rich dividends from bumper wheat crop this year.

Last year, drought had affected the crops but this year the rains and winter have been benign, giving rise to the expectation of a good yield.

“Yes, it feels good. After looking at the fields, it seems that with God’s grace, things will be fine. This year the crop is better than the last year, in our area too, things are looking fine,” said Benchu Ram, a farmer.

The inflation and bad crop acted as double- edged- sword for farmers last year, but this time, things look brighter.

“This year the wheat crop is good because of weather. No farmer will suffer losses this year. We are very happy; we can celebrate our Holi, with double excitement because wheat and potato crops will get us rich dividends,” said Dheerendra Pal, another farmer. (ANI)
