Clinton ‘i Was Very, Very Lucky’

Former U.S. President BILL CLINTON has opened up about his recent heart surgery, blaming a lifetime of unhealthy eating for the medical scare.
The 63 year old checked into Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital last week (ends14Feb10) after complaining of chest pains, and doctors operated last Thursday (11Feb10) to unblock a coronary artery.
Clinton, who underwent a quadruple heart bypass in 2004, was released from doctors’ care last Friday (12Feb10).
And now the former American leader is urging children to eat healthily and exercise more, because he could have avoided heart surgery if he had improved his diet.
He says, “I’m very, very lucky that I didn’t have a much worse set of circumstances. Everybody knows I went to the doctor last week for a little tune up on my heart. I’m glad to be back to work.
“The root causes were the habits I acquired in my childhood, mostly the way I ate and the way it interacted with my own biology and propensity to produce bad cholesterol. I ate too much fried food, too much ice cream, too much everything.”
