‘Valentine’s Day’ seduces fans with $63.1M debut
LOS ANGELES — Movie fans showed some love for “Valentine’s Day,” an all-star romance that debuted with record revenues of $63.1 million over the long President’s Day weekend.
That beat previous record-holder “Ghost Rider,” which pulled in $52 million over the four-day holiday weekend in 2007.
The top 20 movies at U.S. and Canadian theaters Friday through Monday, followed by distribution studio, gross, number of theater locations, average receipts per location, total gross and number of weeks in release, as compiled Tuesday by Hollywood.com are:
