Northrop Grumman says radar system test a success
LINTHICUM, Md. — Northrop Grumman Corp. said Tuesday it completed flight testing of a radar system designed to track vehicles or people on foot over a wide area.
The company said it has conducted more than 120 flight tests of the airborne system. The Army is evaluating the test results.
Steve McCoy, a Northrop vice president, said the flight tests demonstrated that the system can detect people on foot from different altitudes and speeds.
Northrop won a contract in 2006 to develop the radar system. In afternoon trading, Northrop shares gained 26 cents at $59.15.
