Zardari’s chair, not Pakistan’s political system in danger: PML-Q
By ANIMonday, February 15, 2010
PESHAWAR - PML-Q leader Mushahid Hussain Sayed has said that the political system of Pakistan was not in danger, President Asif Ali Zardari’s chair was.
The Nation quoted Mushahid as saying that neither was the Army going to be involved in politics, nor were there any mid-term elections going to be held.
He, however, pointed out that Zardari was trying to damage Pakistan’s institutions for the sake of changing his status from an accused person to an oppressed one.
By taking undemocratic and unconstitutional steps, Zardari was attempting to save his chair, Mushahid said.
Since the masses were on the side of judiciary in the current crisis, Zardari would not succeed in his designs, he added.
He also lauded Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and the apex court for issuing orders against bigwigs in sugar and flour crises.
He advised Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to play his constitutional role to save the country, instead of playing political games to save his chair.
The PML Q Secretary General also urged the government not to name NWFP as Pakhtunkhwa. (ANI)
