Chinese celebrate lunar New Year in Myanmar

YANGON - Chinese residents in Myanmar’s biggest city of Yangon Monday began holding traditional lion dance competitions to celebrate the lunar New Year.

The four-day competition in the heart of Chinatown in the city, features 12 amateur lion dancing teams, Xinhua reported.

According to the organisers, the first and second prize-winning teams will repeat their performances at the award ceremony. Such competitions have been held annually in Yangon since 2006.
