Former U.S. President BILL CLINTON has been discharged from hospital and is preparing to “get back to work” following heart surgery in New York.
The 63 year old checked into Columbia Campus of New York Presbyterian Hospital after complaining of chest pains, and doctors operated on Thursday (11Feb10) to unblock a coronary artery.
Clinton, who underwent a quadruple heart bypass in 2004, was released from doctors’ care on Friday (12Feb10) and is now recovering at home. The politician-turned-humanitarian hopes to resume his work with his charity to help earthquake-hit Haiti within the next few days.
Clinton’s counsellor, Douglas Band, says in a statement, “He warmly thanks the doctors, nurses and staff of the hospital for the care he received… President Clinton would also like to thank the many people who extended their best wishes to him for a quick recovery. He looks forward in the days ahead to getting back to the work of his foundation, and to Haiti relief and recovery efforts.”
