PATNA - Students of the National Institute of fashion Technology (NIFT) exhibited their talents and skills at a fashion show here on Thursday.

At the two-day annual cultural fest of NIFT, Patna, ‘Fashion Spectrum 2010′, students from leading professional colleges in the city showcased men’s wear, traditional Indian wear, evening garments and a whole lot of other creative designs.

“With the opening of professional institution in Patna and in the state of Bihar in general, the outlook of people towards fashion and other stereotypes associated with it are seeing a positive change.,” said Sanjay Srivastava, Director of the Fashion show.

He added that Bihar is now opening up to students from other states, as opposed to the earlier norm of students from Bihar moving out to other states to pursue higher studies. The students who participated in the fashion show welcomed the modernization wave that has hit the city.

“Initially we feared taking part in the NIFT spectrum as the law and order situation in Patna did not approve of it. But now the law and order in the city has improved considerably and that is why we are able to continue the NIFT spectrum for the past two years. We hope that this continues even in future. This fashion show is a big sign of development in Patna and we are grateful that the police and other governing authorities helped us to stage this successfully.” said Toshi Pandey, a participant.

The Patna branch of NIFT was established in 2008 and this event was hosted for the second time since the institute’s inception in the city. (ANI)
