ISLAMABAD - : Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) Director General Lt.Gen. Ahmad Shuja Pasha, who is scheduled to retire next month, is likely to get an extension, sources said.

The Pakistan Army’s top brass is set for a major overhaul with the retirement of at least 12 three-star generals, including four corps commanders in 2009.

A senior security official said that the ISI chief, in all probability, would get an extension ‘in the interest of continuity’.

The official explained that the Army Chief does not need to send a summary for extension in the tenure of a three-star general.

Lt.Gen. Pasha is scheduled to retire on March 18, The Dawn reported.

Others who are due to retire next month include Lt. Gen. Tanvir Tahir, Inspector General of Communications and Information Technology, General Headquarters (GHQ), and Lt.Gen. Mohammad Ashraf Saleem, Commander of Air Defence, Pakistan Army. (ANI)
