CHANDIGARH - The Chandigarh administration Wednesday asked owners of hotels, restaurants and multiplexes here to install CCTV cameras in their premises to strengthen security.

“The district magistrate has directed owners of hotels, restaurants, guest houses, cinema halls and multiplexes to install CCTV cameras. These cameras should cover entry, exit, reception and parking areas of these places,” a government spokesperson said.

“Security of people visiting these places requires strict vigilance in view of the recent terror strikes and inputs received from intelligence agencies. This order has come into force from today (Wednesday). They are required to keep the recording of at least 30 days with them.”

Chandigarh, joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, is home to many VIPs and politicians from both states.

The police have also installed CCTV cameras at the border entry points and at various sensitive locations in Chandigarh.
