Snowfall cheers hoteliers, tourists in Manali

MANALI - A fresh spell of snowfall here on Monday spread a wave of cheer among not just tourists, presently visiting the State, but also hoteliers in Manali, a hill resort. he heavy snowfall has thrilled all of them, as it has occurred after a wait of three long years.oteliers here expect an encouraging turnout of tourists to experience the snowfall over the next couple of weeks.

“This fresh spell of snowfall is beneficial for our hotel industry. It encourages tourism. Tourists are also pouring in due to the local winter carnival. Manali didn’t receive proper snowfall for the past three years but this year it snowed heavily. We have been experiencing continuous snowfall for the past two days,” said Kishori Lal, Manager, Broadways Inn, Manali.ourists are also enjoying the special season amidst snowfall.

“We have come to Manali for the first time. We were told that we won’t be able to see snowfall in Manali. So we made plans to go somewhere else from here to watch snowfall but, luckily, we experienced it here in Manali itself. We are quite happy now,” said Ashish, a tourist from Kota (Rajasthan) and a first timer with his wife in Manali.

Located at an altitude of 2,000 metres above sea-level, Manali is one of the most popular summer hill stations of the country.

Snow bodes well for Himachal Pradesh’s tourism industry, as it is the backbone of the economy.ore than three million tourists visit the state annually.

Surrounded by lofty peaks Manali also doubles up as a winter getaway for tourists from adjoining plains and peninsular India who have rarely experienced snowfall.

Snowfall has covered most of the higher reaches of Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Shimla along with Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh. (ANI)
