MULTAN - Pakistan Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has claimed that a proposal by the previous Pakistani regime to resolve the Kashmir dispute was “a secret” between “selected individuals” of Indian and Pakistani governments, and therefore he has no knowledge about it.

Former Pakistan Foreign Minister Khurshid Kasuri recently claimed that India and Pakistan had almost reached a solution and only the announcement remained.

However, Qureshi said there was no record on the “secret” proposal in the Foreign Office.

Qureshi’s statement comes ahead of the upcoming talks between the foreign secretaries of the two countries in New Delhi.

The Delhi Times quoted Qureshi, as saying that while there would be progress towards the settlement of the Kashmir dispute, it could not be said if the matter would get resolved during the tenure of the current government.

Meanwhile, Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit said no agenda had been finalised for the foreign secretary-level talks between India and Pakistan.

Indian media is claiming that both sides had agreed on a schedule for the foreign secretaries’ meetings on February 18 and 25, and agendas have been finalised.

But Foreign Office said the dates had not been finalised yet. (ANI)
