WELLINGTON - A ghost-hunter from Invercargill, New Zealand claims he has snapped a picture of a spirit.

Andrew Watters reached St Bathans, near Alexandra with partner Kim Ward looking for ghosts in some of the town’s popular haunted buildings.

“I’d always been nagging my Kim to go and have a look at the Vulcan Hotel and its supposed ghost, hoping we would find something,” Stuff.co.nz quoted Watters, as saying.

He added: “I had a beer at the pub and got goosebumps but I think it was just the excitement.”

However, the pair clicked many pictures but felt they had not snapped anything unusual.

But, later a friend spotted a shape with an uncanny resemblance to a woman in the window at the post office.

Watters said: “It’s freaked me out a bit. The shape is very close to a human figure.”

Meanwhile, the department’s Alexandra community relations programme manager Amanda Ware said she had not heard of any ghosts at the post office.

Referring to the postmaster’s living quarters, where the mysterious figure was spotted, Ware said: “Maybe it was him coming back for a visit.”

She further revealed that the building, a category two historic place, had opened in 1909 and had been vacant for about a year. (ANI)
