NEW YORK (GaeaTimes.com)- The new trend on Facebook, the “Doppelganger Week” is already a big hit. It is about swapping one’s picture and putting the snap of a celebrity instead who looks like the profile holder and can represent him. Doppelganger is a German term which means a look alike or double of an individual. Most of us are told that we resemble some one in this planet. The “Doppelganger Week” meme is giving us the opportunity to swap our profile picture to the celebrity we think we resemble.

Facebook is getting more and more interesting with new games and memes. A few weeks back, the “color status updates”, which was meant to spread cancer awareness among women was very popular. The new fad “Doppelganger Week” on Facebook is growing as popular since it is a wish fulfilling meme, in which we can switch to the picture of the celebrity who we think will best represent us. The meme says that you can put up the snap of the celebrity you were told you look like. If you think you resemble more than one celebrity then go on changing your profile picture everyday.

The fad was allegedly started by a man called Bob Patel after his friends pointed out that he resembled Tom Selleck. As people are celebrating “Doppelganger Week” by changing their profile picture to the celebrity who best ‘represents‘ them, Facebook users are all set to face another of those fun filled joyride weeks which would go a long way to make it all the more interesting for all on the social networking site.
