LUDHIANA - To revive the traditional ‘Dhaba’, a star rated hotel in Ludhiana has organised a 12-day long feast aptly named ‘Dhaba Food Festival’.

The hotel named Majestic Park Palace, has been hosting foreign food festivals annually, but with the culture of roadside food seeing a considerable dip, the organisers decided to choose the dining out habits of the land as the theme for the fest this year.

“Our motto is that each and everybody who is a Punjabi should experience their state food because the importance of this food has lost somewhere today. People are becoming more diet conscience and are moving towards boiled food items. So we are bringing Punjabi food back with all its nutritive values,” said Rajeev Sondhi, Food and Beverage Manager, Hotel Majestic Park Palace, Ludhiana.

Gourmets visiting this fest are greeted by around 70 different dishes and these include both vegetarian and non-vegetarian cuisine.

To lend an authentic touch to the event, the waiters are clad in traditional costumes and the décor gives an ideal feel of the roadside Dhaba for the diners.

“We normally visit various restaurants but this festival in the hotel is unique. The food is different and incomparable. The ambience is nice and we are enjoying the various cuisines,” opined Kapil Sharma, a guest.

As per the diner’s choice, the fare is served on the tables or one could have his fill the buffet style and also squatting on conventional rope cots named charpoys, the hallmark of every other roadside dhaba.

The event will conclude on February 7. (ANI)
