Bristol-Myers forecasts big jump in EPS for 2010

NEW YORK — Drugmaker Bristol-Myers Squibb Co. said Thursday that it expects earnings per share this year to range from $1.94 to $2.04.

The maker of blockbuster blood thinner Plavix said that excluding one-time items, it expects earnings per share of $2.15 to $2.25 for 2010.

That’s up sharply from the $1.85, excluding one-time items, that the company posted in 2009.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters, on average, are expecting earnings of $2.19 per share for 2010 excluding items, with a range of $2.10 to $2.30.

Bristol said its forecast is based on revenue growing in the mid-single digits and excludes the impact of any U.S. health care overhaul.
