Oldest conjoined twins to live at kin’s Ohio home

DAYTON, Ohio — Two men who’ve been certified as the world’s oldest living male conjoined twins are moving in with their little brother.

The Christian Youth Corps Inc. charity says it’s helping 58-year-old Donnie and Ronnie Galyon, who live in a tiny home in Dayton, by modifying their brother’s house in nearby Beavercreek so they can live there beginning in the spring.

The Galyons, who are listed in the Guinness Book of World Records, are joined at the torso. They have four arms and four legs and separate hearts and stomachs. They share a lower intestine.

They used to work in a touring carnival and a circus and are retired now. They’re in declining health, arthritic and sore, and could face going into an institution.

But their brother, Jim Galyon, who’s in his late 40s, said he wants to keep them in a home setting, with him and his wife, so they’re free and independent.

Christian Youth Corps, based in Machias, N.Y., plans to build at his home an addition that’s accessible to the twins. The project will create doors wide enough to accommodate them and a hoist system to help them into and out of bed and the shower.

The charity, which is supervising and funding the project, has enlisted contractors and an architect who designs homes for the disabled, founder Peter J. Andrews said.
