Kearney leads US moguls sweep at freestyle WCup
WILMINGTON, N.Y. — Hannah Kearney led an American sweep of the top four places in a World Cup moguls event Thursday at Whiteface Mountain.
Michael Morse finished fifth behind winner Guilbaut Colas of France in the men’s event to move into contention for a spot on the U.S. team for the Vancouver Olympics.
Kearney finished with a score of 25.13, well ahead of teammates Shannon Bahrke (24.96), Heather McPhie (24.08) and Michelle Roark (24.05).
Colas topped the men with a score of 26.51, followed by Dale Begg-Smith of Australia (25.95), Jesper Bjoernlund of Sweden (25.44), Alexandre Bilodeau of Canada (24.90),and Morse (24.89).
Jeremy Cota, vying with Morse for a spot on the U.S. Olympic team, crashed at the top of the course to end his chances. The U.S. team will be officially announced Tuesday in Park City, Utah.
