Cease-fire violations by Pakistan may further strain ties: Abdullah

SWANKHA - Expressing displeasure and serious concern over repeated cease-fire violations on the International border and Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistan, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked Pakistan to shun its hostility and develop cordial relations with India.
After holding a public meeting and laying the foundation stone of Cluster of Model Villages at Swankha near Vijaypur in the Samba district, Abdullah said, “This is true that continuous attempts are being made to hack the fence and even on two occasions they (Infiltrators) attacked and tried to blow-up the fence by using explosives.”
“These kinds of incidents are not good for our relations and these further strain the relations. These incidents will further strengthen the powers, which are not in favor of talks with Pakistan but want to show aggression and attack them,” added Abdullah.
Reacting on the reported Chinese incursion in Ladakh, the State Chief Minister said, “Till now we have not received any reports of Chinese incursion in our land. There is some area in Ladakh, where there is a dispute on Line of Actual Control (LAC).”
“It is obvious that there are bound to be small differences in these areas. But as far as the LAC or Border, which is undisputed, from there are no complaints or reports of incursions,” he added.
Commenting on the Hurriyat’s reluctance to stay away from the proposed talks initiated by the Centre, Abdullah said, ” There will be no solution without talks. Where gun could not solve the problem for 20/21 years then how can gun provide solution to the problem now.”
“The Hurriyat leaders, who believe in talks and want solution minus guns, I would like to request them that they should join the talks again,” added Abdullah.
Giving his thoughts on the grave internal situation in Pakistan, Abdullah said, “The current situation in Pakistan does not permit it to have estranged relations with everyone, Pakistan should shun hostility towards India for developing good relations imperative for peace in the entire sub-continent.” By Tahir Nadeem Khan (ANI)
