ISLAMABAD - America’s ‘Transport Security Administration (TSA) has issued a circular to Pakistani airlines to ensure that passengers flying to the US go through full body search at local airports before boarding their flight.
“It was not yet clear whether the Americans would bring in their own screening equipment along with monitoring personnel or entrust the screening to the local authorities,” The Nation quoted Pakistan International Airline (PIA) sources, as saying.
Sources said TSA team had recently visited local airports to review security arrangements
Earlier, TSA had included Pakistan in the list of countries whose citizens would be subjected to the discriminatory and intense screening at US airports worldwide.
Following the ‘issued circular’ by the TSA, US-bound passengers will now be segregated after the immigration clearance and thoroughly checked by flight staff, which may comprise entirely of Americans.
“Even Managing Director (MD) PIA is not allowed to interfere during this security check,” PIA GM Public Affair Sultan said.
After the immigration, he informed, US bound passengers will be segregated from others and would be required to go through complete body and hand carry search. (ANI)
