Precautions during Solar Eclipse 15th Jan

NEW DELHI (GaeaTimes.com) — Today the entire world is excited to watch the longest solar eclipse of the millennium. The scientists have urged people not to miss this golden opportunity to watch celestial spectacle today.

It’s a once- in -a -lifetime opportunity South India is thronging. Sky gazers are eagerly waiting to witness the longest solar eclipse of the millennium at Kanyakumari, where the annular solar eclipse began at 11.06 am, Friday.

The experts have asked people to take some precautions during solar eclipse. It would be harmful for your eyesight, if you watch it bared eyes.

  • The solar eclipse should be watched with proper gadgets. You can watch it through telescope or binoculars with use of proper filter. You should remember that telescope or a binoculars without a proper filter is very dangerous - it could destroy your eyesight.
  • According to the experts, the safest way of viewing a total solar eclipse is through the method of projection. By projection method, a pinhole or small opening is used to cast the image of the sun on a screen placed a half-meter or more beyond the opening.
  • If you don’t possess a telescope or binoculars, you can easily collect a sieve with perforations and use it to have a view of ‘Ring of Fire’.
  • Experts have warned people to the use of sunglasses, color film, black-and-white or photographic negatives or X-ray film to watch the solar eclipse.

It is highly advisable that you visit nearby planetarium to have clear view of solar eclipse, under the supervision of experts.
