Call for ban on Pak official visits to US unless ‘derogatory’ screening laws withdrawn

ISLAMABAD - Reacting strongly over the US’ move to include Pakistan’s name in the list of 14 countries, whose citizens would have to go for full body screening at American airports, Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that no official delegation from Pakistan should visit the US until the Obama administration withdraws the provision.
Addressing the National Assembly, Khan urged the Pakistani leadership to take up the issue with their US counterparts, and added that only statements by the President and the Prime Minister would help the country’s cause.
He said Pakistani citizens were being subjected to derogatory screening at US airports, despite it being an important ally of America in the ‘war on terror.’
“Pakistan had high hopes when Barack Obama became President, but those hopes were fast diminishing,” The Daily Times quoted Khan, as saying.
He also criticised the PPP government for failing to resolve the issue of missing persons who were picked up by intelligence agencies against the country’s law. (ANI)
