Uttar Pradesh announces creation of a new commando force

LUCKNOW - Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday unveiled its new commando force “Blue Hawks”, which has been raised by the State police to tackle militants.

State Police Chief Karam Veer Singh inaugurated the basic induction course of the first Blue Hawks batch at the commando training school in Lucknow.

Forty-two commandos, who have completed a month-long attachment with Indian army in Agra, showcased their skills.

“We have been assured by the state government that it would back us in all our efforts. I am confident that with this beginning, in future we would able to develop a training program which is modern and developed,” said Singh.

The commandos would undergo five months of special training in tackling terrorist attacks in an urban scenario and facing Maoist challenges in forests.We are prepared to face Mumbai-like attacks in Uttar Pradesh and other states,” said Anand Kumar Yadav, a commando.

Last year on the first anniversary of Mumbai attacks, India had setup two new hubs of the elite National Security Guards (NSG) at Hyderabad and Nedunkundaram near Chennai. It also setup an NSG hub in Mumbai and Kolkata. (ANI)
