Pulwama encounter ends, two terrorists killed

PULWAMA - The Pulwama encounter that began more than 18 hours ago has ended on Tuesday, with security forces killing both the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists.
The gun battle took place in the Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir as the terrorists were reported to be hiding inside a house here.
The encounter had started on Monday when the security forces spotted the two LeT terrorists.
On receiving intelligence reports, the army, police and the CRPF personnel had cornered the militants and later a full encounter began.
This was the second encounter within a week. Earlier on January 9, the security forces had killed two LeT militants in Pulwama district of south Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Defence Minister AK Antony is visiting Jammu today to review the security situation in the region.
Army Chief General Deepak Kapoor, Defence Secretary Pradeep Kumar and various other senior officials of the Ministry of Defence will accompany Antony during his one-day visit.
The Defence Minister is expected to visit the forward areas in Jammu region, and later address a meeting at the Unified Headquarters, which would be attended by the representatives of various forces including the state police and paramilitary forces. (ANI)
