Forgotten bag prompts Duluth airport evacuation
DULUTH, Minn. — Officials say an unattended bag prompted a brief evacuation of Duluth International Airport.
Duluth police spokesman Brad Wick says the bag was inadvertently left near a gate by two incoming passengers — each of whom thought the other person had it.
Police got a call from the airport just after 11:30 a.m. Friday. The terminal was evacuated and the airport was blocked off. A bomb-disposal squad from the nearby Air National Guard Base investigated the bag.
People were allowed back into the terminal around 2 p.m.
Airport Authority Director Brian Ryks says while the terminal was closed, the airport was not shut down.
One incoming flight and two departing flights were delayed.
Duluth is about 150 miles north of Minneapolis.
