Airport video shows man following woman past guard
NEWARK, N.J. — Surveillance video of a man breaching security at Newark Liberty International Airport shows him following a woman into a secure area after a passionate goodbye.
The video was viewed by New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg and staff members this week. Lautenberg had requested it from the Transportation Security Administration after the incident Sunday evening that caused massive delays.
Staffers who have seen the video say a TSA security officer stands nearby but doesn’t see the man stepping under a rope barrier and into the terminal without passing through security.
The footage was captured by cameras operated by Continental Airlines after cameras used by the TSA were found to be not working properly.
The security officer has been placed on administrative leave.
