NH House approves mandating hearing aid coverage
CONCORD, N.H. — Insurance policies sold in New Hampshire will be required to provide $1,500 in coverage for hearing aids every three years under a bill approved by the House.
The House voted 209-157 Wednesday to mandate the coverage over the objections of opponents that the benefit is too generous and would hurt small businesses.
Supporters argued most children and about half the adult population up to age 64 currently have some coverage. They said hearing loss results in less effective communication, especially on the job, jeopardizes safety and isolates people.
The Senate next considers the bill.
