GE announces reorganization for Louisville unit
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — General Electric Co. will realign its Louisville-based Consumer & Industrial Division in a move that will shift the industrial segment of the business to Atlanta.
GE spokeswoman Kim Freeman said in a statement Monday that the Louisville operation will be renamed GE Appliances and Lighting.
Freeman says the realignment won’t have any effect on employment at Louisville-based Appliance Park, where the work force is about 4,000. The company says Jim Campbell, the longtime head of the Consumer & Industrial Division, will continue to lead the Louisville operation.
GE says the industrial side of the business will be shifted to GE Energy, based in Atlanta, where a new unit called Industrial Solutions will be formed.
