HYDERABAD - Andhra Pradesh police on Sunday prevented hundreds of students from entering into the Osmania University campus to attend a meeting of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) to press for the creation of separate state of Telangana.

On Saturday, Andhra Pradesh High Court allowed the JAC to hold its meeting at the campus with certain conditions.

In its orders, the High Court banned political leaders, and Maoist sympathisers from addressing the gathering.

The JAC had invited leaders of all political parties and Maoist sympathisers to take part in the meeting.

The JAC alleged that the police were violating court order by arresting students and using repressive measures to foil the meeting.

It also threatened to file contempt of court case against the government for not allowing them to hold the meeting despite the court orders.

Students in different parts of Telangana region are protesting after the arrest of JAC leaders.

The Andhra Pradesh Government has made massive security arrangements at Osmania University Campus. (ANI)
