Tourists converge to witness season’s first snowfall at Darjeeling

DARJEELING - Thousands of tourists are converging on the Darjeeling Hills area to witness the first snowfall of the season.

The snowfall began on Thursday night and continued till Friday.

The tourists that have gathered here to celebrate their New Year are delighted to witness the phenomenon of nature.

“We have been staying in Darjeeling for four days. We have come from Kolkata. We had this feeling that we would be going back to Kolkata without witnessing the snowfall,” said Archana Jain,” a tourist from Kolkata

“Today was the last day of our stay and we were leaving for Jalpaiguri. On the way we came to know that snowfall is taking place, that too first snowfall of the season. We are very lucky, it looks like heaven,” she added.

Places like Sandakphu, Phalut, Manebhanjan and Tiger Hill received around 2-3 inches of snow. (ANI)
