SAN FRANCISCO, (GaeaTimes.com)- Nicholas Green was only seven years old when he was killed in a burglary while he was spending time with his family in Italy, during a vacation way back in 1994. Although Reg and Maggie Green had lost their son in the terrible tragedy, they took the pledge of saving the lives of others by donating their son’s organs to patients who were in desperate need of transplant.

15 years after his death, Nicholas Green is being honored at the Rose Parade float on New Year’s Day, where his portrait would be accompanying 76 other deceased donors which would adorn the float. Donate Life has been instrumental in establishing the float, which would consist of the mythical bird phoenix and is going to be as high as 30 foot. The phoenix would be decorated by a huge array of flowers and one of its high points is going to be the portraits of 76 organ donors, which would be placed on the tail feathers of the bird.

Nicholas Green’s father Reg Green has reiterated that the occasion is extremely significant as it would enable millions of people to know the heartwarming story of his son. Moreover, it has also been mentioned that the fact that his son is being remembered even after so many years have passed since his demise, is in itself quite overwhelming.

Following Nicholas Green’s death, his parents donated his organs which played a pivotal role in saving the lives of as many as seven Italians. The initiative turned out to be immensely significant, as it hugely contributed to increase awareness about organ donations in Italy.
