SAMBA - Farmers of Jammu and Kashmir’s Samba village switched over to vegetable farming as it is more remunerative than traditional wheat and rice crops.

“A lot of farmers are taking to vegetable production. They are getting cash quickly,” said Karmjeet Singh, Sub-Divisional Agricultural Officer.

Wheat and rice take long time to ripe as compared to vegetables.

“Previously we used to grow crops but now we have switched to vegetables. Now people know that there is more money in growing vegetables,” said Kulbeer Singh, a farmer.

Kulbeer Singh further said the local government is helpful by providing seeds. By Tahir Nadeem Khan(ANI)
