KUALA LUMPUR - A Malaysian taxi driver, who identifies himself as ‘Uncle’, was jailed for 14 years and ordered to be whipped five times for raping, attempting to rape and molesting seven underage girls.

He was sentenced to 82 years in jail but will only be behind bars for 14 years as the Ampang Sessions Court ordered that the sentences run concurrently from his date of arrest, reports the Star Online.

Chin Hock Nam, 54, changed his mind and pleaded guilty to all charges when the case began on Monday.

Ampang Sessions Court judge Azwarnida Affandi said she took into consideration Chin’s guilty plea as well as the fact that the offences had become rampant and that all his victims were underage.

The judge ordered that he serve his jail terms from the date of arrest on June 14 this year.

Chin had raped, attempted to rape and molested the students at his rented house in Taman Lembah Maju in Ampang between 2008 and this year.

He got to know the victims through social networking websites and later took them for a ride before sexually attacking them.

Pleading for leniency, Chin asked the court to consider that although he had recorded the acts on his mobile phone, he did not post them on the Internet.

“We knew each other. It is not an ordinary case,” he told the court. (ANI)
