BHOPAL - Members of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student organization, staged a protest outside a college here on Monday against the authorities for their alleged laxity in verifying students from Jammu and Kashmir before granting them admissions.

Wielding placards and banners ABVP members staged protest outside Hamidia College. Police dragged the protesters as they shouted slogans against admission of Kashmiri students without proper verification.

“Here police officials and administration give admission to students from Kashmir in return for money. These students are involved in separatism and spreading militancy in Kashmir. Such students are admitted here.

“One such student who is admitted here without being present here has been hurt by a bullet of the security forces and is admitted in ICU. It puts a question mark on the state education system,” said Sumit Jain, leader of ABVP.he Kashmiri students, however, said that they have gone through proper verification required for their admission.

“We went to police station and have gone through proper verification. We were also verified by authorities in Jammu and Kashmir. We have submitted all the documents the college authorities have asked for,” said Firdose, a student hailing from Sopore town of Jammu and Kashmir.

The college authorities assured that they would have a re-look in the doubtful cases.

“One or two cases are there may be by mistake or ignorance that such a student is admitted here though I don’t know what department he is admitted. They have highlighted about some departments like History or Urdu that some admissions were done.

In this case this candidate, the documents were all right but the candidate did not come himself and got himself admitted through a relative. I have cleared it to the authorities that in such cases verification will be done again and if they are found wanting then their application will stand cancelled,” V.N. Srivastava, Principal, Hamidia College.

The ABVP leaders also gave a memorandum to the state education ministry over the issue. (ANI)
