NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- Indian railways has been trying hard to improve the quality of its various services apart from running trains in time and introducing new trains. Its initiatives like e ticketing and booking airplane tickets online have received great response from the passengers. It is also trying to offer more variety in food on long distance trains while maintaining quality and safety. In a recent move it has decided to offer its passengers the facility to book their meal when they book their tickets. However, they would not have to pay for their meal when they book the tickets. The payment for the food will be taken only when they get the food in the trains.

The new ‘book a meal’ scheme of Indian railway can be availed at the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation website and it is a really convenient option for the travelers who do not have much time for booking the meal and ticket separately. A number of delicacies can be booked online including vegetable biryani and south India dishes Masala Dosa. However, the passengers who will get confirmed e tickets can avail this new facility. In fact the service has been already started handful of trains like Karnataka Express and Goa Express and the response is largely positive.

The ‘book a meal’ scheme of Indian railway is available for dinner, lunch and breakfast. However, once a passenger boos the meal online he or she will not be able to cancel or change the order that is the caveat. The food will be given in a casserole.
