FTC: Google can buy mobile ad provider AdMob

WASHINGTON — Federal regulators have cleared the way for Google to buy a mobile ad service, AdMob.

The regulators say they are worried that the $750 million deal would extend Google Inc.’s dominance of Internet marketing into the nascent field of wireless devices. But the Federal Trade Commission approved the deal, noting that there’s emerging competition in mobile ads from Apple Inc.
