WASHINGTON — Bidz.com Inc., an online jewelry retailer, said that Federal Trade Commission staff has decided not to recommend legal action against the company for violating a federal anti-spam law.

The FTC had been investigating Bidz.com’s use of e-mail to advertise and market its products and looking into whether the company had failed to honor opt-out requests sent by people who did not want to receive e-mail messages from the Bizd.com.

Shares of Bidz.com, based in Culver City, Calif., were up 1 cent at $2.07 Friday.
